Christiansfeld – UNESCO World Heritage

A short drive from Halk Strand Camping lies Christiansfeld, one of the most beautiful small towns in Southern Jutland. The town was founded by the Moravian Church in 1773 and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2015.

Moravian architecture

The simple yellow brick houses, the church hall and the Brethren’s House still reflect the special way of life of the Moravian Church. A walk through the quiet streets is like travelling back in time.

The famous honey cakes

Christiansfeld is known throughout Denmark for its honey cakes, which are still baked to old recipes. A visit to one of the honey cake bakeries is part of every trip.

A day trip from the campsite

Combine Christiansfeld with a visit to Kolding or Haderslev – and then enjoy a quiet evening on the beach at Halk Strand Camping.

Good to know

Christiansfeld belongs to Kolding Municipality. The historic centre is small and easy to explore on foot.

God’s Acre

The Moravian cemetery, God’s Acre, with its flat, uniform gravestones is one of the town’s special places.

Combine with Kolding

From Christiansfeld it is a short drive to Kolding and its castle, Koldinghus.
